The biggest flaw in paper-and-pencil role-playing games is the massive investment of time required to have a satisfying experience. Meeting at regular intervals and for several hours at a time are necessary. Once families and jobs and actual responsibility begin to weigh us down, it’s no longer feasible to play these games.
And back in the 90’s and early 00’s, we often daydreamed about still being able to play together even if we’re not able to be physically gathered around a table. The internet was still sipped at through phone lines and webcams weren’t standard equipment yet. But that’s changed now.
Broadband, fast computers, cameras built into laptops…this is so cool. I wish it would have been around a decade ago.
