Shemp takes a walk through history in today’s episode. We get a glimpse of the man in his prime, and we learn where the name of the restaurant came from.
We got the painting done this weekend. The baby’s room, the downstairs hall, the downstairs bathroom, and the dining room. I may have painted more in terms of sheer acreage, but the wife logged more hours, doing the trim and going back and redoing the half-assed job that I did.
I just can’t seem to focus my attention on things like painting, housework, washing myself. It’s the details. I’m not a details person, I guess. At least not where I feel the detail work is voluntary. For real work, I’m a planner. I love the details, but when the notion seems to be an arbitrary creation of busywork…I just glaze over.
I did get to listen to a large portion of the audiobook, Desperation by Stephen King. Which was pleasurable.
I’m finding that I do most of my reading with my ears these days. There’s a pretty good Netflix for audiobooks at Simply Audiobooks. Good selection, cheap. And much more affordable than actually buying the audiobooks. Which are quite spendy animals.
I find that I can do busywork, and actually look forward to it, if I know that I can be reading a book at the same time. I exercise to audiobooks, I cook to audiobooks, I clean the house to audiobooks, I drew this comic to the final hour of Desperation.
It seems that the biggest hinderance to my doing the regular things in life that need doing…is my brain. So I give my brain a sucker and tell it to shut up for awhile. Seems to have worked so far.
